I'm a Pōneke-based fine artist with a passion for all things creative, and I'm drawn to both oil painting and novel writing—two enduring loves that are constantly vying for my attention. As a self-taught artist, I studied at Victoria University of Wellington, earning a Bachelor's in Architectural Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Designed Environments.
Born in Christchurch and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Durango, Colorado, I bring the influences of both the sea and alpine air into my work, infusing each piece with a sense of place and atmosphere.
From an early age, I was captivated by the surreal, often getting lost in the dreamlike worlds of Salvador Dalí and René Magritte. This early fascination with surrealism continues to shape my artistic voice, inspiring paintings that blend whimsy with deeper political and philosophical undertones. Through my work, I seek to explore the strange beauty of the everyday and the subconscious, creating visual narratives that are both playful and thought-provoking.
My first ever solo exhibition will encompass the Feminine Disarray, which intends to capture moments of all women's wonderfully messy lives. It will show the beauty in chaos, in the entropy of emotions experienced day-to-day. This body of work seeks to honour women whose stories have too often existed on the margins of history.
